More transparency and accountability for results
A new generation of results visibility has emerged
With increased Resident Coordinator system capacities and growing momentum across all UN Sustainable Development Group entities, new tools are enhancing monitoring and reporting at country, regional and global levels, strengthening UN development system accountability for results at country level.
These include:
- A new generation of UN Country Teams results reports
- A new generation of regional system-wide results reports
- Revamped UN Info and the UNSDG Information Management System to collect results of UN Country Teams’ work on the SDGs and COVID-19
- A new COVID-19 data portal showing UN Country Teams’ work on the socioeconomic response and recovery
Strengthened communications capacities in Resident Coordinator Offices are showing results
- Over 100 UN Country Teams results reports on 2020 results produced in first quarter of 2021
- A 9% increase in UN Country Team support provided to national governments for their SDG reports
- A 40% increase of UN County Teams with joint advocacy initiatives to promote the implementation of the SDGs or other key UN priorities
- A 960% increase from 2019 in the number of stories showcasing UN Country Teams results, published on the global UNSDG website
- Increased use of digital communication, particularly of social media, and UN Country Team websites
Communication officers in Resident Coordinator Offices and UN Information Centres helped mobilize more than 1.5 million people in 195 countries to share their priorities for the UN in its 75th anniversary

The Development Coordination Office’s continuing efforts have also increased visibility and communication of results effectively and efficiently
In 2020:
- The UNSDG global website was launched in English, French and Spanish, with all other UN official languages expected by 2021
- 108 UN Country Team websites covering 21 languages were launched, backed by the Development Coordination Office
Cooperation Frameworks evaluations are another key tool for understanding the UN development system contribution at country level
In 2020:
- 20 countries conducted an evaluation of their Cooperation Frameworks/ UN Development Assistance Framework to inform the development of the new Framework
- 60% of the countries that conducted an evaluation of their Cooperation Framework developed a management response and action plan for implementation, marking a significant improvement from 2019 when only 22% of countries complied
