Suriname: Fast-track to sustainable pineapple production

16 October 2022
Wendolien Sabajo, a member of the Lokono (Arawak) Indigenous community, wearing a hat and black blouse, is holding a pineapple on a plantation in Suriname.
Caption: "Pineapple cultivation is indispensable in our culture because it has been passed down from generation to generation,” says Wendolien Sabajo from the Lokono (Arawak) community in Suriname. But only using the traditional methods, the crop is “not so easy to expand. The demand for pineapple is big, but the supply is low.”
