Unlocking SDG Financing: Findings from Early Adopters
July 2018
Between USD 3.3-4.5 trillion per year needs to be mobilized if we hope to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. At today’s level of both public and private investment in SDG-related sectors, developing countries face an average annual funding gap of USD 2.5 trillion. This does not mean that ODA is irrelevant. Rather, it must be used more strategically—as an instrument to secure other sources of finance: public and private, domestic and international. The joint UNDOCO - Dag Hammarskjold Foundation best practice collection on "Unlocking SDG Financing: Findings from Early Adopters" examines progress made by UN Country Teams in Kenya, Indonesia, and Armenia towards unlocking private capital to finance the SDGs, and focuses on opportunities for the UN in the financing field.
