The United Nations in Congo
The United Nations System in the Republic of Congo is led by a team whose leadership is based on mutual accountability for the results achieved by the United Nations System in the country. The coordination function is strengthened and assumed by the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Congo, who is the Secretary-General's designated representative for development operations.
The country team works together through the "Delivering as One" approach to respond more effectively to the country’s development priorities and humanitarian needs, in line with the United Nations mandate. Currently, the United Nations System in Congo is made up of 20 resident and non-resident agencies, funds, programmes and entities.
In order to strengthen and build on synergies, joint programmes are being implemented in the country. These programmes are developed by Result Groups in partnership with sectoral ministries. They provide an opportunity for United Nations entities to pool their expertise based on their respective comparatives advantages to collectively contribute to national development priorities and strategies.
