This note was prepared in response to the commitment made by the Secretary-General in his 2015 Report on “The future of United Nations peace operations: implementation of the recommendations of the High-level Independent Panel on Peace Operations” to review and revise existing conflict analysis methodologies to enable more integrated conflict analysis. The note offers a brief outline of the core components of a basic conflict analysis and a guide to existing resources, and it is consistent with the CDA tool and complements the UN Policy on Integrated Assessment and Planning.
